Recovery, Adaptation & Innovation

While it looks different than celebrations of the past, this week is National Small Business Week. Unfortunately, we are unable to celebrate together, but rest assured we are celebrating your resiliency and success. If your business is a member of the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce and you would like me to feature your story on our Facebook page, please contact me! I would love to share why you opened your business, your favorite part of your workday, or why you feel Fayette County is the best fit for you. Email your submissions to julie@fayettecountyohio.com or give me a call at 740.335.0761. Please DO NOT reply directly to this email.
At our fingertips is a valuable resource, free to all small business owners. Melissa Carter, Business Specialist with the OSU South Centers Small Business Development Center is available to assist you. As you may remember, Melissa speaks at many of our educational events and is also available to you on a one-on-one basis. Join Melissa this Thursday, September 24th for a free Zoom webinar aimed at preparing your business for the upcoming Holiday season. The event is free to attend but you must register. Details can be found by following THIS LINK.
As you will remember, I shared information from the City of Washington Court House regarding their CARES Act Grant program for small businesses. I am pleased to announce the Fayette County Commissioners will also be providing grants to those businesses who qualify and are located outside the City of Washington Court House. Details regarding their program will be announced next week and forwarded to you as they are available.
Director of Economic Development Chelsie Baker reminds business owners that these grants are up to $10,000 each and are distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Applications can be picked up at the City Building during regular business hours or downloaded at the link provided below. Additionally, Chelsie is available to answer questions by calling 740.636.2340 or via email at cbaker@cityofwch.com.
Please use this National Small Business Week as a reminder to support those who support our community. When you find yourself in need of a good or service, please SHOP LOCAL, DINE LOCAL, THINK LOCAL. Together we will continue to rebuild and revitalize.
Make it a great evening, Fayette County!

Join us as we help Fayette County ‘Focus Forward’

By COVID-19 Local Updates, News
During troubling times, Fayette County comes together. We support, encourage, and believe in each other. Today is no different.
Many of our small businesses have been left behind during this pandemic as they did not meet the criteria for various federal grants and loans. Through the generosity of Tony’s Welding and Fabrication and Quali-Tee Designs, we have begun a small business grant fund. These grants are available to any Fayette County Chamber member with 10 or fewer employees.
To further fund the grant, we are offering for sale, several different t-shirts, travel mugs, and even a reusable shopping tote! These items are available for purchase by following THIS LINK. 100% of proceeds will be split evenly amongst the participating members.
To participate and receive grant dollars, we ask the following:
  • You are a member in good standing prior to June 3, 2020
  • Your payroll does not exceed ten individuals
  • Your business was adversely affected by the Stay at Home Order
  • You share our webstore link on your business Facebook page.
Your participation and promotion of this event is vital to its success! Please call the chamber office to convey your wish to participate. It is really that easy!
Our store closes on June 21st. Make sure to order your items before time is up! While you will receive a quality item to enjoy yourself or give as a gift, you will also be lending a hand to our small business members. Let’s show them how much we appreciate what they bring to our community!
If you have any questions or if, as a small business owner, you would like to receive a grant, please give the office a call at 740.335.0761.
Thank you for joining us as we focus on moving Fayette County forward!

In an effort to support our local economy today and every day, the Chamber of Commerce is please to announce our newest program, Chamber Bucks!

As a member of the chamber, you have the option to participate in this exciting program! The Chamber Buck is available for purchase directly from our office in increments of $20.00 and purchase is open to the public. Should your business choose to accept Chamber Bucks as a form of payment for goods or services, please contact the office no later than Monday, March 23, 2020 to register for this program. Your business name will be listed on a form given with each Chamber Buck purchased. Once you receive this ‘buck,’ contact the office for reimbursement. You will be reimbursed within 2 business days.
